Charter fee
Most of the yachts managed or selected by Neo Yachting are priced according to the Western Mediterranean terms (also called MYBA terms).
Under the MYBA terms, the Charter Fee includes the charter of the yacht with all its equipment in working order; tools; stores; cleaning materials and basic consumable stores for engine room, deck, galley and cabins; laundry of ship's linen; the crew's wages, uniform and food; the insurance of the yacht for marine risk and third party claims and the insurance of the crew for employer's liability insurance.
The Charterer will be charged extra and at cost for all other expenses. These include fuel for the main engines and generators; fuel for the ski-boats and other tenders; food for the Charterers; wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks for the Charterers; other consumable stores; berthing dues and other harbour charges including pilot's fees, local taxes, divers' fees and charges for water and electricity taken from shore; personal laundry; communications (telephone, fax and e-mail via Satcom, cellular phone or landline); and hire or purchase costs of any special equipment placed on board at the Charterer's request.

VAT
The E.U. legislator has recently increased the pressure on yacht owners to collect Value Added Tax (IVA, TVA, VAT, etc. ) on their charters at rates which vary between 5% and 20% of the Charter Fee. Under UE Law the VAT is payable by the Charterer.
There are still some exemptions and our charter specialists will be able to guide you.
Type of charter agreement
The most widely accepted Charter Agreement is the one published by the MYBA association, 2009 version. If you wish to read the terms of this agreement prior to booking a charter with us, please contact one of our charter specialist by clicking here.
Payment terms
The standard payment terms are:
- 50% of the charter fee at the signature of the charter agreement
- 50% of the charter fee, plus the APA*, plus any delivery/re-delivery fees if applicable 30 days prior to the start date of the charter period.
*APA stands for Advanced Provisioning Allowance and is usually 30% of the charter fee.
Please note that in certain exceptional cases such as static or event charters, the owner of the yacht might claim for a Security Deposit, refundable at the end of the charter if no damages by the charterer are noted.
Option
In general, no option is accepted by yacht owners, but should you be interested in holding a yacht for a short period of time, please contact us for the terms.
Insurance Conditions
Insurance
When booking a yacht charter, the charter fee usually includes the rental of the yacht and all equipment for the charter period, the service of the crew and insurance. This later point includes as per the terms of the MYBA charter agreement which is signed between the charterer and the yacht owner:
- Hull and machinery cover
- Protection & Indemnity (P&I)
- War risk
Clause 16 of the MYBA charter agreement
The MYBA charter agreement (2009 version currently used) is the charter agreement which is the most used by the charter Industry. Click here to read an extract of the agreement which defines the insurance covered by the yacht owner.
Travel insurance
This type of insurance usually covers medical expenses, financial default of travel suppliers, cancellation and other losses incurred while traveling. Temporary travel insurance can usually be arranged at the time of the booking of a trip to cover exactly the duration of that trip. There are many suppliers for such insurance coverage and we advise you to contact us or your travel agent for advise. Please note that this insurance is NEVER provided by the owner of the yacht, nor by Neo Yachting SAS, acting as broker.
Third party liability insurance
Neo Yachting company carries a Marine Liability insurance covering our activities up to 1 MEUR per occurrence. When booking with Neo Yachting, you are working with a reliable company, well established in the Yachting Industry.
