Crew Additional Info: Captain Sietske completed her education at the Maritime School in Rotterdam. In 1999, to put into practice what she learned, Sietske started work sailing the oceans. She worked for 13 years aboard a huge range of vessels and knows how to keep things organized and completely ship shape. When Sietske was offered a job as captain on MY Sherakhan she really couldn’t resist. Straight away during her first season Sietske showed herself to be an excellent member of the SHERAKHAN team. This winter is her third season on MY Sherakhan. When not aboard SHERAKHAN Her biggest hobby is sailing. General Manager: Jan Verkerk, Age 49, Dutch.
Jan is managing MY Sherakhan for 6 years and prior to this he managed MY Jaguar for six seasons as a captain. In his many experiences he saw that a happy and motivated crew immediately reflects on the quality of the service and the success of the charter for the guests. The quality of the charter is in very good hands with Jan as a manager. His way of working has always been to keep the crew happy and motivated and the result reflects immediately upon the guests. As he is aware of this secret ingredient he maintains the quality of his crew to give the best quality charters you can imagine. Now he has recently launched SY Lady Thuraya, which is more than a remarkable achievement. Being the heart and soul of MY Sherakhan, Jan Verkerk knows how to manage his crew to give the product everybody is looking for. Jan respects his team very much and will do everything to keep their spirit the way it is! Jan and his crew are looking forward to another fantastic season on Sherakhan!
Languages: Dutch, English. Executive Chef: Marc Kemperman, Age 42, Dutch. For 20, years Mark worked in the hotel and catering industry. He has cooked in several famous restaurants and hotels in the Netherlands (for example the Amstel Hotel in Amsterdam), as well as in restaurants and hotels in London, Scotland and Curacao. The past 5 years he worked as chief cook in restaurant Le Virage in Mijdrecht, the Netherlands. Before he started his work as a cook, Mark, went to the Maritime Academy, he always had a passion for ships and sailing. In his spare time Mark loves listening to good music (60s and 70s disco music, Santana, Deep Purple, Bob Marley) and collects Dutch stamps. For Mark it is a big challenge to prepare high quality cuisine on board of a yacht like MY Sherakhan. We are convinced you will like his cooking. Languages: Dutch, English, German. Second Chef: Tatjana Jefimova, Age 40, Lithuanian. Tatjana started off her cooking career on Ro-Ro ferries of the Baltic Sea accommodating between 200 to 300 passengers. She worked onboard for 15 years, the last 2 years as the head chef. Looking for a new learning experience she then moved to England where she learned, amongst other European styles, the typical English cuisine and Grill. After 3 years in England, she got the opportunity to open and cook for a prestigious new restaurant in her home country of Lithuania. Still the pull of new adventures, different countries, undiscovered tastes, and the element of the sea made her hungry to join the yachting world. During first season onboard Sherakhan, she's already shown as a hard working person with excellent diverse cooking skills. When she's not cooking up a storm, she enjoys sports, embroidery, movies, and all kinds of tours and trips. Languages: Russian, Lithuanian, English, and a little Dutch. Assistant Chef: Michael Rodriguez, Age 34, Filipino. After "Micky" studied Computer Electronics, which he finished in 1997, he discovered a passion for cooking. Before deciding to go nautical he gathered some experience and learned a lot by working in several restaurants in the Philippines. Michael then started his nautical career in 2005 for Princess Cruise Liners. For four years he worked on this Ship as a butcher. Knowing he wanted to broaden his horizons and embark on a different adventure, he applied for the Yachting industry. This way he became our assistant chef on board Sherakhan, not only for his cooking skills, but also his all around knowledge of the nautical world. Aside from above deck skills, he has a great sense of humor, and an some impressive dance moves. Languages: Tagalog, English. Chief Stewardess: Birgit Winter-Paditz, German, Age 37. Birgit was born in Leipzig, Germany where she studied as an apprentice in hotel management. She spent 5 years working her way up to Head waitress aboard prestigious cruise liners such as Seabourn and Silversea while travelling all around the world. Afterwards, Birgit travelled to Switzerland and ran a hotel restaurant as manager. She has been working back at sea for more than 5 years now, aboard yachts such as M/Y Reverie, M/Y Eminence and M/Y St. Ekaterina. Birgit loves reading, diving and eating. Hotel Staff/Masseuse: Ivana Matlovikova, Age 31, Slovakian.
This is her fifth season and she is completely dedicated to MY Sherakhan. She has many years of experience on sailing yachts and in the hospitality industry. Ivana is a lady with a lot of qualities, among these being a certified masseuse and diver.
Languages: Slovakians, English, Dutch, German. Hotel Staff: Nicole Madlener, Age 19 Dutch. Nicole is the youngest of the crew, but don't let that fool you! With her spunky attitude and 2 years experience as hostess at the Plaza Resort on the island of Bonaire, she fits right in on the Sherakhan. She's quick, easy going, and not shy to smile! Languages: Dutch, English. Hotel Staff: Milou Farla, Age 22, Dutch.
When Milou was a teenager, she worked in hotels and restaurants after school time. She became a graphic shaper, but because she loved the hotel and catering industry and the sea more, she decided to sail on board the Clipper Stad Amsterdam. After 2 years on board the Clipper Stad Amsterdam she started a training in media, communication and marketing combined with working in a company ashore. She liked doing this but the attraction of the sea and the hotel and catering industry was too strong.

Affectionately known as "Pujie", he's also a new edition to the Sherakhan family. All of his adult life Puje has worked in many restaurants in the Philippines starting from the lower position always working his way up to excellence. Before he joined Sherakhan he gathered 11 years as a head waiter on cruise liners. Pujie is a pleasure to work with for he always shines and is incredible with kids. He really enjoys his work, loves to learn new things, and almost never says no! When he's not working Pujie likes to kick back and relax in the nature, or enjoys a challenge playing table tennis. Hotel Staff / Housekeeping: Elaine Ramos, Age 25, Filipino. Elaine completed a Bachelor of Hotel and Restaurant Management. After this she had a year of training in housekeeping and front desk at the Sheraton Music City Hotel in the United States. Here her work experience is and in the food service. This is her second season on board Sherakhan and we wouldn't want to miss her professionalism and optimistic attitude and smile. When she is not on board she likes to play badminton and shop till she drops. Languages: Tagalog, English. Hotel Staff / Housekeeping / Masseuse: Joyce Magday, Age 27, Filipino. Joyce has quite an educational background. She achieved her Bachelor of Science, Hotel and Restaurant Management., during which she did an internship at the Raginis Hotel as a chamber maid. After completing her studies, Joyce worked in restaurants and hotels before joining a passenger ship. Now, before coming back for her second season this winter on Sherakhan, she completed some courses as a Masseuse. Joyce is a hard working lady, who loves to sing and dance in her free time. Languages: Tagalog, English. Hotel Staff/ Housekeeping/ Masseuse: Monaliza Feliciano Magday, Age 33, Filipino. A graduate of Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in the year 1999 and worked as an Accounts Analyst at National Food Authority since 2000-2010. Having her passion to touch people’s life, she took a Nursing course while working and passed the Nurses National Licensure Examination in the year 2009, there, she pursued her Nursing Profession and worked at Baguio General Hospital, Surgery Ward. For her, service to mankind is willingness to give your help and comfort with open heart, humility and dedication to serve. Her special attitude towards people has enabled her to submit herself to this profession, which surprisingly shows no boundaries and continues to give her best. Languages: English, Tagalog. Hotel Staff/ Housekeeping: Egle Vaitkeviciute, Age 21, Lithuanian. Following some family members footsteps, she's the third to have joined the Sherakhan. Before she came on board she lived 2 years in Cambridge, England and worked for the Food Factory as Assistant Chef. Just after a couple of months onboard, she shown her versatile abilities in every department of the ship. She's not afraid to assist you in whatever you ask her to, whether it be on deck or in the laundry. We mention a lot of smiling crew, but we can't leave her out as one of them. Languages: English, Lithuanian, Russian. Chief Mate: Gregory van Leuven, Age 28, Belgian. Gregory is one of the newest edition to join the crew of MY Sherakhan. When he was still in High school he knew that he wanted to see the world in combination with sailing the oceans. When he had his school holidays he joined Inland Marine Shipping and then on his last year of school he came in touch with ocean faring ships. This made him decide to enhance his studies at the Maritime Institute "De Ruyter" in Holland to become a Maritime Officer, but not before achieving a bachelors in Algebra to help him along his studies. He's got quite a list of experience seeking jobs onboard cruise ships, oil tankers, ferry's, dredgers and heavy lifting. Aside from his passion for the sea, he's a keen extreme sports enthusiast, but kite surfing being his ultimate favorite. Languages: Dutch, English. Deckhand: Niceas Garte, Age 45, Filipino. When Niceas finished his Bachelor of Science in Marine Technology at the Davao Merchant Marine Academy in 1992, his passion for a nautical career kept on developing. From 1999 until 2009, he sailed only on Dutch waters on Diamond, Wijnen Barends, Sea Shannen River and Eems Sprinter in the Cargo industry. After 10 years of gathering these experiences, he wanted to start something new and applied to the Yachting world and came on board MY Sherakhan. Deckhand: Erwin Ledesma, Age 38, Filipino. Erwin completed the Maritime School in the Philippines in 1998. He soon took a job on a passenger / cargo ship and worked there as a cook and deckhand. He did this work for 6 years before he joined us on board the Sherakhan. Again Erwin started off in the Galley, but soon was transferred to the deck department as his passion for the outside became apparent. He works well independently but is also a great team player. Jaymar finished his Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation in 2003 back in the Philippines. Trained and experienced carpenter he quickly become Sherakhan’s “chippy” fixing all the nice wood work onboard if anything gets broken. In his free time he likes to play pool and play with his little boy. Languages: Tagalog, English. Deckhand: Maria Branets, Age 19, Russian. Maria is one of the newest crew onboard. She was born in Russia Stavropol Territory and finishing schooling in 2009. She is now studying in Admiral Usacov Maritime State Academy Novorossisk, specialty navigation on 3rd course. She is onboard Sherakhan to practice and training of real sea life. She has also worked in Novorossiskii Maritime Port in administration and on a tug boat in the port. She likes to play volleyball in her free time. Languages: Russian, English. Technical Department, Chief Engineer: Dag Mladinic, Age 54, Croat. Dag is born and raised in Split on the Croatian coast, and he comes from a family of seafarers. As he grew up close to the sea it was natural for Dag to start enjoying the water from an early age and he sailed the Flying Dutchman dingy in the local yacht club in his youth. He attended the Nautical High School in Split and after examination went to sea working on tankers, passenger ships and a casino ship. The casino ship was powered by a steam turbine and was doing speed of more than 30 kts. After 20 years at sea he decided to go ashore and as a passionate model ship builder with eye for fine details, he opened a shop for fine furniture’s. Alvin Bucod, Age 37, Filipino. Alvin rounded up his studies as Marine Engineer in 1995. He started working as a seaman on Cargo Ships and later as an engineer on Cruise Liners. This winter will be his third season on MY Sherakhan. He's our all around fixer upper, from the engine room, to the cabins, to tenders, to even sunglasses! In other words, he can fix anything. Besides that, he is a very smart, hard working, and nice person to have on board. Fishing and playing basketball are also both activities he really enjoys to do. Languages: Tagalog, English. Shore Based Manager: Kathelijne Eijzenbach, Age 40, Dutch.Kathelijne has made herself indispensible since she started to work as Shore Based Manager for MY Sherakhan in August 2007. She makes sure all the paper work is correct and successfully manages the quality controls MY Sherakhan gets being a Solas registered passenger ship. General Layout
Presentation: Fully rebuilt from the hull up in 2005 SHERAKHAN had a recent refit with new plumbing, electrics, air-conditioning and generators. In October 2012 all the guests areas and cabins have been provided with new soft fabrics, other operations have been made are the overhaul of all major equipment in the engine room, the cleaning and painting of all tanks and the provision of a new equipment in the galley.
On board the SHERAKHAN you will feel no vibrations and no sound of the engine.
The ultimate stabilizers will make your stay even more pleasant. The main saloon is virtually divided into two areas. One one side we find the dining area with a beautiful table where 22/24 people can be seated. On both sides of the dining table there are 2 impressive stairs which lead you to the owners deck. When you sit at the dining table and look up, you will be impressed by the atrium. You can look completely to the roof of the yacht where the Jacuzzi with glass bottom is situated. The enormous chandelier is of course specially designed for this area of 7 meters of height. The other side of the saloon is furnished to relax. Nice cozy couches, homely armchairs, enormous vases, a fireplace, a flat screen television, a bar where you can sit down to enjoy your drinks and of course a little podium whit a white piano. From the lobby, it's possible to access to the Guest Accomodation area, where we find 4 suites. All the double beds are King size. All suites are equipped with a television, DVD, stereo and I-Pod dock, mini bar, safe, air-conditioning/heating, a vanity table/desk, a computer point and WiFi, relaxing chairs, saloon table, a very spacious walk-in closet, bathroom with toilet, bidet, bath (Jacuzzi), double basin and shower. The last area of importance on this deck is the beauty salon. The beauty salon is also a fully equipped hair- and nail studio.
Upper Deck
Bridge:The last deck is the wheelhouse deck. You can reach this deck from the corridor on Upper Deck or from outside. The wheelhouse is situated on this deck, but the most important of all… the Jacuzzi, loads of deck chairs, a bar, a B.B.Q. area, shade for the burnt ones. Upper Deck Description:The saloon is furnished with exclusive and comfortable chairs, a bar with an integrated piano and a dance floor. During the day time, this area is really popular. It is great for reading and relaxing when the sun is too hot or for having a drink or playing some chess. Then during the evening this saloon is perfect for having swinging cocktails before dinner. In the meantime the crew can set a wonderful decorated table to surprise the guests when they walk down the stairs to enjoy dinner. Besides the saloon, the Upper Deck contains 2 suites of 31 m² and 1 Master Cabin of almost 51 square meters. Hand made wool carpet, silk curtains and a handmade Venetian mosaic finish this cabin in perfect detail. The His and Hers en suite bathroom and shower room have unique designs in French glass tiles and matching marble. The Master bedroom even boasts a private Jacuzzi for water lovers. The private exit to the deck lead to a private seating which allows those who wish to breakfast alone to enjoy their privacy. Connecting to the Master Suite is a spacious study. This study can also be converted to a separate double.
Lower Deck
Lower Deck:The Lower Deck includes 4 suites: the smallest is 34 m² and the biggest is 37,3 m². They are as well finished as all the others. There are also two smaller cabins with bunked twins that each link to a double – suitable for children, nannies, security or staff. All the double beds are king size beds (when children sleep in the cabins then they will be specially designed for children). These cabins are connected with the 2 suites next door, but can also be used completely separately. This Deck incorporates also a Gym with many fitness equipment as a stationery exercise bike, a step machine, a treadmill, a prior elliptical trainer and a set of free weights to complete your workout and a Spa which is a delight to the eye with its handcrafted mosaic. The Spa "The La Sirène" has a Finnish sauna with a cold water tub as well as a hot water Jacuzzi to unwind in while thinking back on your fantastic day onboard Sherakhan. Charter for Christmas, Antartica or Patagonia will be at normal rate see above. When there is no discount, Sherakhan will not charge internet, laundry or the 3 massages a day.
Booking Conditions

Most of the yachts managed or selected by Neo Yachting are priced according to the Western Mediterranean terms (also called MYBA terms).
Under the MYBA terms, the Charter Fee includes the charter of the yacht with all its equipment in working order; tools; stores; cleaning materials and basic consumable stores for engine room, deck, galley and cabins; laundry of ship's linen; the crew's wages, uniform and food; the insurance of the yacht for marine risk and third party claims and the insurance of the crew for employer's liability insurance.
The Charterer will be charged extra and at cost for all other expenses. These include fuel for the main engines and generators; fuel for the ski-boats and other tenders; food for the Charterers; wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks for the Charterers; other consumable stores; berthing dues and other harbour charges including pilot's fees, local taxes, divers' fees and charges for water and electricity taken from shore; personal laundry; communications (telephone, fax and e-mail via Satcom, cellular phone or landline); and hire or purchase costs of any special equipment placed on board at the Charterer's request.

VAT
The E.U. legislator has recently increased the pressure on yacht owners to collect Value Added Tax (IVA, TVA, VAT, etc. ) on their charters at rates which vary between 5% and 20% of the Charter Fee. Under UE Law the VAT is payable by the Charterer.
There are still some exemptions and our charter specialists will be able to guide you.
Type of charter agreement

Payment terms
The standard payment terms are:
- 50% of the charter fee at the signature of the charter agreement
- 50% of the charter fee, plus the APA*, plus any delivery/re-delivery fees if applicable 30 days prior to the start date of the charter period.
*APA stands for Advanced Provisioning Allowance and is usually 30% of the charter fee.
Please note that in certain exceptional cases such as static or event charters, the owner of the yacht might claim for a Security Deposit, refundable at the end of the charter if no damages by the charterer are noted.
Option
In general, no option is accepted by yacht owners, but should you be interested in holding a yacht for a short period of time, please contact us for the terms.
Insurance Conditions
Insurance
When booking a yacht charter, the charter fee usually includes the rental of the yacht and all equipment for the charter period, the service of the crew and insurance. This later point includes as per the terms of the MYBA charter agreement which is signed between the charterer and the yacht owner:
- Hull and machinery cover
- Protection & Indemnity (P&I)
- War risk

Travel insurance
This type of insurance usually covers medical expenses, financial default of travel suppliers, cancellation and other losses incurred while traveling. Temporary travel insurance can usually be arranged at the time of the booking of a trip to cover exactly the duration of that trip. There are many suppliers for such insurance coverage and we advise you to contact us or your travel agent for advise.
