Azimut 85
Azimut 85 successfully unites opposites to coexist in perfect harmony. The graciously streamlined exterior hides a skilfully designed interior that enhances the space available to the full, completing it with every possible comfort. A design culture applied to large volumes and a finely honed aesthetic sense form the underlying structure of the yacht, representing two complementary facets of one whole.
Sunseeker Yacht 40m
Sunseeker's largest motoryacht represents a triumph of design, styling and engineering, placing the brand firmly in the international yacht-building league. If the ultimate status symbol is a yacht, then the ultimate style statement is a Sunseeker Yacht. Setting standards of refinement and luxury that have become the benchmarks in their class for others to follow, these imposing craft nonetheless continue the Sunseeker tradition of high performance and technical excellence.

Mega yachts
Some people consider wether a boat is a mega yacht by length, of displacement, or of cost, but these factors can vary depending on who you talk to. We consider a mega yacht is a vessel that is generally large, like a yacht over 100 feet in length, and one that meets the high standards of design and construction. Additionally, it is a boat that excells in one or more particular fields, be it the standard of craftsmanship, the ornateness of the interior, or even the sheer size of the project.
Mega yachts are usually privately owned. Some are used exclusively by their private owners, while others are operated part-time or year-round as charter businesses. A large private yacht charter can range from a few tens of thousands of dollars to nearly over a million dollars for one week. Often referred to as floating villas, mega boats allow you to travel in absolute comfort. They enable you to reach remote destinations sometimes inaccessible by any other method than a boat.
An average mega boat is three to four levels consisting of a lower deck, main deck, upper deck and finally the sun deck. What you find onboard these decks can blow the mind away: helicopters, swimming pools, spas, basketball courts, movie theaters, concert halls, floating golf courses; what an owner decides to put on board is limited only by their imagination.
As the world's wealthiest compete to keep up with one another, large private yachts are reaching colossal size. Many yacht builders are taking orders for super large mega boats well over 400 feet, 122 meters. The growing number of small cruise-like ships has led to yet another term to differentiate the elite among large private mega boats.
Superyachts
More recently, over the last decade or two, there has been an increase in the number and popularity of large private luxury yachts, over 24 metres. Luxury yachts typically have no real home port as such although a yacht must be registered in a port of the country of which it fly the flag. (Many times the yacht will have never been to the port.) They are particularly bountiful in the Mediterranean in summer and the Caribbean Sea in winter. (Yachts that go back and forth between the Caribbean and Mediterranean in the winter and summer are said to be doing the Milk Run.) Yachts will dock in a port of choosing while the crew does maintenance work and waits for owners or guests to arrive. The vessels then will do short cruises with the owners and/or guests aboard. Typical destinations in Spain and the French and Italian Rivieras include Cannes, Antibes, St. Tropez, Monte Carlo, Portofino, Porto Cervo, Puerto Banus, Puerto Portals and Palma, Majorca, although increasingly luxury yachts are cruising in more remote areas of the world. Antigua is one of the main ports in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean and hosts a Charter Show at the beginning of the winter season.
With the rising demand for luxury yachts there has been a concomitant increase in the numbers of custom boat building companies and yacht charter brokers. Luxury boat building and yacht charter companies are predominantly based in the United States and Western Europe but are also increasingly found in New Zealand, Asia and Eastern Europe. European manufacturers such as Ferretti, Azimut, Benetti, Feadship, CRN, CMN, ISA, Blohm & Voss, Hessen, Icon, Sunseeker and Lürssen dominate the very top end of the yacht building market.
Azimut 103SL
The creative style of the interiors is the work of Carlo Galeazzi, who excels in the use of luxury materials to create an exclusive style. For the exterior Azimut’s unique Bordeaux Red was chosen as the colour of the hull of the Azimut 103SL giving this model a unique and exciting personality.
The 103S has all the distinctive aspects that have been developed for the other models in the Azimut’s Open range. Special efforts have been made in the use of the latest yacht technology and design features to combine the technical complexity of a large high-speed yacht with the creation of unique guest areas that would provide the owner with complete intimacy.
It was in 2003 that Azimut Yachts presented the first model in its Open range. The Azimut 68S marked a significant change in the world of luxury sports yachting with its combination of a sexy external appearance and high levels of on board comfort. Pioneers in excellence, Azimut has now set important new standards in the design of Open boats with its 103SL. Here the application of new structural criteria and the use of the latest high technology have been combined to simplify life on board and raise comfort and style to new levels.
Azimut Yachts
Azimut Yachts was founded in 1969 as a yacht charter business in Viareggio. In 1970 they became distributors for a number of foreign boat builders and started designing their own motor yachts in 1975. By 1983 they had built a 105’ GRP yacht, the world’s largest at the time.
They acquired Benetti in 1985 and since then have bought the Gobbi and Fraser Yachts companies. Azimut now own several marinas and have a 65000 sq. metre building facility building 350 yachts per year up to 35 metres long. Azimut has an active R&D department developing new stabilisation and performance systems.
Azimut has three distinct ranges of models. A flybridge range starting at 42’ with 16 models up to 116’. The S-models with a similar size range have a lower, sportier profile and are built with performance in mind. All yachts are designed in house by Stefano Righini.
Azimut are undoubtedly one of the most innovative leading manufacturers; their designs are often copied by others. In terms of quality they are considered to be mid market players but in terms of branding and innovation they are certainly amongst the leaders.
