Qatar
Extending gracefully into the Arabian Gulf, the state of Qatar is a refined, independent, and sovereign nation that has grown from its roots in pearling, fishing, and trade into one of the wealthiest nations in the world. A place where desert sands meet the ocean, ancient traditions and modern innovations live side by side, chartering a yacht in Qatar offers a distinctive blend of culture, luxury infrastructure, and accessible coastal exploration. Located between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, this compact nation benefits from calm Gulf waters and well-equipped marinas, particularly around its capital, Doha. The city’s skyline, dominated by West Bay’s contemporary towers, remains iconic, while the Corniche and The Pearl-Qatar offer sheltered berths and upscale waterfront dining. Outside of its capital, Qatar’s coastline is dotted with sandy beaches, offshore sandbanks, and the UNESCO-recognised Inland Sea at Khor Al Adaid, where desert dunes descend directly to the shoreline. All types of watersports, like snorkelling, jet skiing, and paddleboarding, are popular here, while diving enthusiasts can explore limestone formations and historic wreck sites. Key sites not to be missed during a Qatar yacht charter include the Museum of Islamic Art, designed by I.M. Pei; Souq Waqif, a restored marketplace; and the striking National Museum of Qatar. The state’s strategic location at the centre of the Persian Gulf makes it a practical gateway for extended yacht charters linking Bahrain, the UAE, and Oman.
When to go
November - April
High season
December - February
As the state of Qatar is defined by its rather hot, arid, and desert-like climate, with intensely long and hot summers, the best time of year to book a Qatar yacht charter is between November and April, with daytime temperatures between 20°C and 30°C and generally calm waters. Peak season runs from December to February, when winter tourism increases demand for marinas and coastal services. The summer months, particularly June to September, bring extreme heat exceeding 40°C, making it less favourable for cruising.
