The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, founded in 2009, has fast become one of the most prestigious Formula 1 races in the world for attending by charter yacht. Like its sister race held each spring in Monaco, the November event is right along the waterfront. The biggest, most impressive superyachts have the best views of the course, with charter guests hosting viewing parties on the sundecks. Cruising itineraries tend to be in and around the resorts of Dubai, where wealth has exploded and luxury comes in almost every form imaginable. The city is known as the Middle East’s shopping capital and includes one of the world’s largest retail centers: Dubai Mall, with 1,200 shops. If you prefer a more traditional experience, head to Deira and the Gold Souk, where nearly 250 shops sell gold—and where the sight can be positively blinding in its opulence.
