Flat-rate VAT reduction on charters is allowed again in France & Monaco
As published on the ECPY website, the provisions of the BOFIP (Bulletin Officiel des Impôts) as of 29 January 2020, which put an end to the flat-rate VAT reduction system, have been canceled by a new BOFIP ref 30 march 2020, which allows the flat-rate reduction, applicable under the former BOFIP, to apply after 31 March 2020.
This is confirmation of the unofficial announcement made a few days ago. This decision, which is linked to the economic context created by the COVID-19 health crisis, will certainly be re-examined when the crisis is resolved.
Until then, all charters starting in France or Monaco that go into international waters can benefit from the 50% VAT reduction.
No Penalty on Charter Cancellations due to Covid-19
We understand that the ongoing spread of COVID-19, or Coronavirus, is presenting increased challenges when planning ahead, but a lot of owners are considering adding a special addendum to the MYBA Charter Agreement to enable charter clients to continue to plan their summer holidays without the risk of penalties should their charter booking be affected by this issue.
With this in mind, and with what we know today, this can be a great opportunity to book a charter with peace of mind that being on board a private yacht is probably the safest option health-wise for the coming summer holidays.
Yachts continue to be considered one of the most hygienic and safe placesas they are an easier controlled environment. The crew are diligently maintaining their high standards to ensure every yacht is thoroughly cleaned and sanitised prior to, throughout, and after each trip. In addition, the air is purified on most yachts and cleanliness is at a much higher standard than anywhereelse.
Our top priority is ensuring safety, health and wellbeing, and we are ready to assist you with any questions you may have. We also take this opportunity to wish you and your family to stay safe during this time.
