Èze

Decoration

Sitting on a limestone peak above the Mediterranean, Èze is said to be the French Riviera’s most dramatic medieval village, and among the few that charter guests can reach on foot from the shore. The village is 427 metres above the sea on the Moyenne Corniche, midway between Nice and Monaco, making it a perfect destination for any Riviera charter. Entirely pedestrian, Èze consists of a knot of cobbled lanes lined with ateliers, cafes and galleries. At its summit sits the Jardin Exotique, laid out around the ruins of a medieval castle and planted with cacti and succulents, offering stunning panoramic views west to Cap Ferrat and east to Monaco. The village of Èze is home to not one, but two Michelin-starred restaurants, perfect for all foodies. La Chèvre d’Or holds two stars, and Château Eza has one, and is in a hotel Prince William of Sweden made from 400-year-old houses along the village wall. Charterers will also undoubtedly enjoy the Fragonard perfumery located below the village, which runs free tours. With Monaco, Villefranche and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat all minutes away, Èze should not be missed on any charter in the South of France.

The months of May, June, and September offer warm weather, sun, and berths at Beaulieu and Villefranche without a scramble, perfect for an Èze charter. July and August bring peak heat and heavy day-trip traffic to a village of narrow, pedestrian-only lanes. Keep in mind that many village restaurants close over winter, making it rather quiet at the end of the year.
