Portugal
Stretching from one of Europe’s oldest capital cities to a coastline shaped by centuries of maritime exploration, Portugal is a charter destination that is well known for its remarkable variety of landscapes, historical depth, and natural beauty. Its capital, Lisbon, serves as an ideal starting point for a Portugal yacht charter, with the medieval Alfama quarter, the UNESCO-listed Jerónimos Monastery, and the iconic Tower of Belém all within easy reach for guests. The Estoril coast brings charterers to Cascais, a well-appointed marina town that sits close to Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of mainland Europe, home to many seafood restaurants and the sea-eroded rock formation of Boca do Inferno. Further south, the Arrábida Natural Park offers some of the most beautiful coastal scenery in all of Portugal, with its limestone cliffs sheltering clear waters, perfect for snorkeling. Further south still, lies the Sado Estuary near Setúbal, where a resident pod of bottlenose dolphins and a protected nature reserve harbouring flamingos and spoonbills can be found. Ideally located at the south-western tip of the Iberian Peninsula, Portugal makes it an ideal base for longer charter itineraries connecting the Azores, Madeira, the Canary Islands, and the wider Mediterranean.

July – August
Portugal benefits from one of Western Europe's most favourable climates, with long, warm summers and mild shoulder seasons well suited for charting. The best time of year for a charter to Portugal is from May to October, as the sea conditions are calmer and the temperatures are more comfortable, making for reliable cruising along the coast. June through September offer the warmest weather, although July and August bring the most water traffic across popular marinas such as Vilamoura, Lagos, and Cascais.
